FMGE Coaching

FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduates Examination) is a mandatory licensing test for candidates who have studied medicine abroad and wish to practice in India. The test is conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) and has a duration of 5 hours. It is held twice a year in offline mode.

1. Nationality

  • The candidate must be an Indian citizen or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).

2. Medical Qualification

  • The candidate must have obtained a primary medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized medical institution outside India.

  • The degree must be listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS).

3. Eligibility Certificate from MCI/NMC (if applicable)

  • Candidates who enrolled in a medical course abroad on or after March 15, 2002, must have obtained an Eligibility Certificate from the Medical Council of India (MCI) or the National Medical Commission (NMC) before beginning their studies abroad.

4. Internship Requirement

  • The candidate must have completed a mandatory internship or clinical rotations as required by the foreign medical university granting the degree.

5. Proof of Qualification

  • The candidate must provide valid proof of the primary medical qualification, such as:

    • Degree certificate.

    • Provisional certificate (if the degree certificate has not been issued yet).

6. Registration with Licensing Authority (if applicable)

  • In some cases, candidates may need to provide proof of registration or eligibility to practice medicine in the country where the degree was awarded.

7. Other Requirements

  • The candidate must have completed the minimum course duration specified by the foreign university.

  • The candidate must submit all required documents, including identity proof and eligibility-related certificates, during the FMGE application process.

Additional Notes:

  • FMGE is only for candidates seeking to practice medicine in India after completing a foreign medical degree.

  • Candidates who completed their medical degree in countries such as the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand (where the medical qualifications are recognized by Indian authorities) may not require FMGE but need to follow specific registration protocols with the NMC.
